From July 1, 2025, the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) announced a new payment option, allowing players to buy lottery tickets with debit cards at retailers across the state. Previously, Players could buy lottery tickets only with cash.
Debit Cards Accepted: Players can now use debit cards to buy lottery tickets for Powerball, Mega Millions, scratch-offs, and all other lottery games across South Carolina.
Cash Still an Option: Players can still buy lottery tickets using cash method.
No Credit Cards: Credit cards are not accepted to purchase the lottery tickets.
This move aligns South Carolina lottery with other lottery states and reflect the modern payment trends. Now South Carolina lottery players can enjoy faster, easier ticket purchases and continue supporting the educational programs that benefit from each dollar spent on lottery games.
